What it Means to Us to Work for a Woman-Led Company

How being a part of a woman-led company shapes our everyday lives.
You'd might not guess it by the name, but our company is Woman Owned, with a majority female workforce! In celebration of International Women's Day, we asked our employees how being a part of a woman-led company shapes their everyday lives, both inside the workplace and out. Many thanks to our Visioneer-in-Chief, Anouck Gotlib, for her fierce, inspired leadership on this day and all others!

What it Means to Us to Work for a Woman-Led Company...

Working for a woman-led company where the leader has experience with the highs and lows of creative struggles, challenges and passions from a female perspective is a benefit I'd wish for any fellow creative out there. This support and understanding from a successful woman not only helps on the bumpy road from idea to execution, but more importantly inspires me on a personal level: It’s a daily, real life example of 💪.

Working for a woman-led company promotes more inspiration and engagement in our corporate makeup and in our brand. We consistently try new ways of doing things, no matter the outcome. We never give up, we support one another, because that’s when the magic happens!

Working for a woman-led company contains the gift of being able to envision working for your future self. Any industry can make you question yourself and ask, “Am I built for this?” Yes, you are, and you will do better than what your mind is limiting you to think— this is what our own leader is always telling us. Employees are always treated like humans with lives and feelings outside the workplace.

Working for a company run by a woman, as a woman myself, is a source of true inspiration. Unfortunately there are still very few women-led companies in the world, so it’s something we’re very proud of. There is a positive energy that radiates from our leader, constantly reinforcing the idea that nothing is impossible, only the limits of our mind define certain things as impossible. She knows that we can learn every day, and encourages us to turn our weaknesses into strengths. Characteristics like effective communication, empathy, and self-awareness are difficult to measure, but are highly valued and make a real difference.

Working for a woman-led company (and specifically a mother-led company) adds a layer of understanding and compassion about the myriad roles mothers juggle and the responsibilities they fulfill. It’s so much easier to maintain passion, positivity and productivity when we feel such genuine support and compassion from our leader, both inside and outside the workplace. On top of that, it’s just more fun!

Working for a woman-led company has given us the foundational empathy and understanding it takes to put a company support system in place, and has emphasised the importance of setting up the right values. Our company has become one of integrity and honesty, with a passionate sense of leadership.

Working for a woman-led company gives me daily proof that women can do it all. Having a toddler at home can make my schedule unpredictable; working alongside other moms in leading roles gives me the comfort that there is a sense of unspoken understanding amongst us. That helps drive productivity and morale. Seeing women and mom bosses grind daily empowers me to never limit myself. With the schedule flexibility, I can wear many hats for my many roles at work while maintaining some sort of work life balance at home. It motivates me to never stop aspiring to be a BIG BOSS! Our woman leader has the perfect balance of inscribing success while maintaining a level of empathy. It's humbling and it reminds you that we are all here doing the best that we can!

Working for a woman-led company allows me to experience relevant mentorship with my higher-ups. Not only am I able to learn and grow from daily tasks on the job, but having the ability to gain insight and advice from these female leaders is a privilege in itself. I experience an abundance of kindness, patience, and encouragement from the women on the Belgian Boys team, ultimately pushing me to become more confident in what I am able to bring to the table. Two of my strongest values are effective problem solving and communication, which I have found to be the standard when working with female leaders. I am never worried when I need help as I have many team members who are more than happy to provide me with guidance. I feel encouraged to work harder every day with the support of my team, and I am so grateful to be a part of Belgian Boys!

Having grown up with a single mother, I’ve been more comfortable in environments where there are women in leadership. To be immersed in a female-led, mother-led company is something I am incredibly proud of. I owe everything that I am and all my success to my mother, as well as any other influential women who have helped me along the way—and most definitely those in charge at Belgian Boys. It has been an absolute pleasure and pride to be not just an employee but a family member in this company, and the women are some of the hardest working people I have ever worked with.

There are some countries where women are still unable to hold the same status as men in society. Luckily, the United States is not a country where this is prevalent.  Unfortunately, there is still a level of inequality that women face in the American business world, specifically in positions of leadership. I am both lucky and proud to work for a company that goes against this notion. Working for a female-led organization is wonderful for numerous reasons. I greatly appreciate the sense of diversity that comes with working for a female led organization. It is known that diversity helps foster creativity and innovation which are both important to me, so I look forward to working in that type of environment daily.
